- Were you structured to work in a virtual or hybrid organization before last year?
- Did you plan to handle the uncertainty of large swings in supply and demand?
- Does your current digital strategy enable you to capture more market share this year?
Today’s business environment is becoming more challenging than ever before; leadership needs to ask “How do I navigate the constantly changing environment to enable my organization’s success?” Thinking in terms of business transformation is not enough. An organization’s leadership needs to think in terms of “business agility” and this mindset must permeate all levels of leadership. But how does an organization become an Agile Organization that embraces constant change?
Agile organizations embrace both new ways of doing business, as well as adapting to the constant shift of customers’ expectations. Add to that, new technologies and how these technologies can be leveraged to enable better ways to conduct business. While leaps in technology capabilities are an ever-present impetus for change in today’s environment, there are numerous other factors contributing to change that also need to be taken into account: social, economic, geo-political, etc. Transitioning to an Agile Organization positions leadership to be more successful in guiding the company through this constantly changing environment.
Organizational Agility is defined as “The capacity to quickly and efficiently create, redeploy, reconstitute, and reallocate the resources of the organization in a manner which optimizes their use in an environment or allows them to create new environments.”1 Today’s business leaders from the C-Suite to line supervisors have a need to understand this concept and the criticality of championing true Business Agility.
To move away from a legacy of less effective practices and siloed thinking:
- Build skills of leaders who understand how things are “really” done to start the small wins at the onset.
- Enable leaders and managers to reward the actions and behaviors that are foundational for cultural change and directional shift.
- Clarify purpose from top-down and bottom-up to drive better understanding across all stakeholders.
The challenge many organizations face today is they have not fully developed this mindset and the necessary skills to effectively lead and manage in a constantly evolving environment. With the right plan, commitment and skills development, any company can become an Agile Organization.
We are experts in leadership development and Agile methodologies. We can build the skills your leaders need to navigate the evolutionary challenges facing your business.
